أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ قَالَ
حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَدِيثًا طَوِيلًا عَنِ الدَّجَّالِ قَالَ فَكَانَ فِيمَا حَدَّثَنَا قَالَ يَأْتِي وَهُوَ مُحَرَّمٌ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ نِقَابَ الْمَدِينَةِ فَيَنْتَهِي إِلَى بَعْضِ السِّبَاخِ الَّتِي تَلِي الْمَدِينَةَ فَيَخْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَعْنِي رَجُلًا هُوَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ أَوْ مِنْ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ فَيَقُولُ لَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ الدَّجَّالُ الَّذِي حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَدِيثَهُ فَيَقُولُ الدَّجَّالُ أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ قَتَلْتُ هَذَا وَأَحْيَيْتُهُ أَتَشُكُّونَ فِي الْأَمْرِ؟ فَيَقُولُونَ لَا قَالَ فَيَقْتُلُهُ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيهِ فَيَقُولُ حِينَ يُحْيِيهِ وَاللهِ مَا كُنْتُ فِيكَ قَطُّ أَشَدَّ بَصِيرَةً مِنِّي الْآنَ فَيُرِيدُ الدَّجَّالُ أَنْ يَقْتُلَهُ فَلَا يُسَلَّطُ عَلَيْهِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ related to us a long hadith about the Dajjāl. He said that among what he related to us was: “He will come while it is forbidden for him to enter the passes of Madinah. He will end up at one of the salt marshes that adjoin Madinah. On that day a man who is the best of people, or among the best of people, will go out to him and say: ‘I testify that you are the Dajjāl about whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told us.’ The Dajjāl will say: ‘Do you see, if I kill this man and bring him back to life, will you doubt the matter?’ They will say: ‘No.’ So he kills him and then brings him back to life. When he brings him back to life, the man will say: ‘By Allah, I have never been more certain about you than I am now.’ So the Dajjāl wants to kill him, but is not given power over him.”
