أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ

أَتَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَأنا أُوقِدُ تَحْتَ قِدْرٍ وَالْقَمْلُ يَتَنَاثَرُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِي أَوْ حَاجِبَيَّ فَقَالَ «أَتُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ؟» فَقُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْلِقْ رَأْسَكَ وَانْسُكْ نَسِيكَةً أَوْ صُمْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَطْعِمْ سِتَّةَ مَسَاكِينَ» قَالَ أَيُّوبُ لَا أَدْرِي بِأَيِّهِنَّ بَدَأَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me at the time of al-Hudaybiyyah while I was kindling a fire under a pot, and lice were falling on my forehead or my eyebrows. He said, "Are your lice troubling you?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Shave your head, and offer a sacrifice, or fast three days, or feed six poor persons." Ayyub said, "I do not know with which of them he began."
