✧ The Differences among the Narrators regarding the News of Abdullah b. Abbas on the Method of the Prophet's ﷺ Night Prayer.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «فَقَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَاسْتَاكَ وَهُوَ يُقْرَأُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْهَا {إِنَّ فِي خَلَقِ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارَ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ} حَتَّى قَرَأَ هَؤُلَاءِ الْآيَاتِ أَوِ انْتَهَى إِلَى آخِرِ السُّورَةِ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ عَادَ فَنَامَ حَتَّى سَمِعْتُ نَفْخَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَاسْتَاكَ ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ نَامَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَاسْتَاكَ وَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَأَوْتَرَ بِثَلَاثٍ» 403 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ زَيْدٍ عَنْ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَنَّ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ

✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ. He got up, performed wudu, and used the siwak while reciting this verse until he finished it: {Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of night and day are signs for those of understanding} [Quran 3:190]. He continued reciting these verses until he reached the end of the surah. Then he prayed two rak'ahs. Then he went back and slept until I heard his snoring. Then he got up, performed wudu, and used the siwak, then prayed two rak'ahs. Then he slept. Then he got up, performed wudu, used the siwak, prayed two rak'ahs, and performed witr with three. [Then] Muhammad b. Jabalah reported to us: Ma'mar b. Mukhlad, who was trustworthy, narrated to us: 'Ubayd Allah narrated from Zayd, from Habib, from Muhammad b. 'Ali, from Ibn Abbas, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up and used the siwak... and he continued the hadith.
