أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ لُوَيْنٌ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُبَيْرٍ

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ قَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ وَهَنَتْهُمْ حُمَّى يَثْرِبَ وَلَقُوا مِنْهَا شَرًّا فَأَطْلَعَ اللهُ نَبِيَّهُ ﷺ عَلَى ذَلِكَ «فَأَمَرَ أَصْحَابَهُ أَنْ يَرْمُلُوا وَأَنْ يَمْشُوا مَا بَيْنَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ» وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْحَجَرِ فَقَالُوا لَهَؤُلَاءِ أَجْلَدُ مِنْ كَذَا

Translation

✧ From Ibn ʿAbbās: When the Prophet ﷺ and his companions arrived, the polytheists said: “The fever of Yathrib has weakened them, and they suffered badly from it.” So Allah informed His Prophet ﷺ of that, and he commanded his companions to jog and to walk between the two corners. The polytheists were on the side of the Black Stone, and they said: “These are stronger than so-and-so.”
