أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ الْكُوفِيَّ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا حَدَاثَةُ عَهْدِ قَوْمِكِ بِالْكُفْرِ لَنَقَضْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَبَنَيْتُهُ عَلَى أَسَاسِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ خَلْفًا فَإِنَّ قُرَيْشًا لَمَّا بَنَتِ الْبَيْتَ اسْتَقْصَرَتْ»
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Were it not for your people’s recent departure from disbelief, I would have dismantled the House and rebuilt it on the foundation of Ibrahim, and I would have made a rear door for it, for Quraysh, when they built the House, made it too small.”
