✧ The construction of the Kaaba

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ عَنْ خَالِدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ أَنَّ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمِي وَفِي حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَوْمَكِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ» فَلَمَّا مَلَكَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ جَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Were it not that my people—and in Muhammad’s narration, your people—were recently in ignorance, I would have demolished the Kaʿbah and made two doors for it.” When Ibn al-Zubayr took control, he made two doors for it.
