أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

أَهْلَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِالْحَجِّ خَالِصًا لَيْسَ مَعَهُ غَيْرُهُ بِالْحَجِّ خَالِصًا وَحْدَهُ فَقَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ صُبْحَ رَابِعَةٍ مَضَتْ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَأَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «حِلُّوا وَاجْعَلُوا عُمْرَةً» فَبَلَغَهُ عَنَّا أَنَا نَقُولُ لَمَّا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ عَرَفَةَ إِلَّا خَمْسٌ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَحِلَّ فَنَرُوحَ إِلَى مِنًى وَمَذَاكِيرُنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنَ الْمَنِيِّ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَخَطَبَنَا فَقَالَ «قَدْ بَلَغَنِي الَّذِي قُلْتُمْ وَإِنِّي لَأَبَرُّكُمْ وَأَتْقَاكُمْ وَلَوْلَا الْهَدْيُ لَحَلَلْتُ وَلَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ مَا أَهْدَيْتُ» قَالَ وَقَدِمَ عَلِيٌّ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ «بِمَ أَهْلَلْتَ؟» قَالَ بِمَا أَهَلَّ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ «فَأَهْدِ وَامْكُثْ حَرَامًا كَمَا أَنْتَ» قَالَ وَقَالَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ جُعْشُمٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ عُمْرَتَنَا هَذِهِ أَلِعَامِنَا هَذَا أَوْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «هِيَ لِلْأَبَدِ»

✧ We, the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, entered ihram for the Hajj exclusively, with nothing else, for the Hajj exclusively alone. We arrived in Makkah on the morning of the fourth of Dhul-Hijjah. The Prophet ﷺ commanded us, saying, "Exit Ihram and make it an Umrah." It reached him that we were saying: When there were only five days between us and Arafah, he commanded us to exit ihram and go to Mina while our private parts were dripping with semen. The Prophet ﷺ stood up and addressed us, saying, "It has reached me what you said. Indeed, I am the most righteous and most God-fearing among you. Were it not for the sacrificial animal, I would have exited ihram. If I had known before what I came to know after, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal." He said: Then Ali arrived from Yemen. He said, "With what did you enter ihram?" He said, "With what the Prophet ﷺ entered ihram." He said, "Then sacrifice an animal and remain in ihram as you are." He said: And Suraqah b. Ju'shum said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about this Umrah of ours? Is it for this year of ours or forever?" He said, "It is forever."
