✧ Hajj without intention is something the pilgrim desires

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي قَيْسُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ طَارِقَ بْنَ شِهَابٍ قَالَ

قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى أَقْبَلْتُ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ مُنِيخٌ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ حَيْثُ حَجَّ فَقَالَ «حَجَجْتَ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ «كَيْف»؟ قُلْتُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَبَّيْكَ بِإِهْلَالٍ كَإِهْلَالِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «فَطُفْ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ» وَأَحَلَّ فَفَعَلْتُ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ امْرَأَةً فَفَلَّتْ رَأْسِي فَجَعَلْتُ أُفْتِي النَّاسَ بِذَلِكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَادِمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ فَائْتَمُّوا بِهِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ إنْ نَأْخُذْ بِكِتَابِ اللهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْمُرُنَا بِالتَّمَامِ وَإِنْ نَأْخُذْ بِسُنَّةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَإِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَمْ يَحِلَّ حَتَّى بَلَغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ

✧ Abū Mūsā said: I came from Yemen while the Prophet ﷺ was encamped at al-Baṭḥāʾ where he performed Ḥajj. He said: 'Did you perform Ḥajj?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'How did you enter iḥrām?' I said: 'I said: Labbayka with an iḥrām like the iḥrām of the Prophet ﷺ.' He said: 'Perform ṭawāf around the House and between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, and then exit iḥrām.' So I did that. Then I went to a woman who loosened my hair. I began to give this fatwā to the people. He said: I said: 'The Commander of the Believers is coming to you, so follow him.' ʿUmar said: 'If we follow the Book of Allah, it commands us to complete. If we follow the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, the Prophet ﷺ did not exit iḥrām until the sacrificial animal reached its place.'
