✧ The Invocation of Laylat al-Qadr Until the Last Night

أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ ذَكَرْتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ عِنْدَ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ فَقَالَ

مَا أَنَا بِمُلْتَمِسُهَا بَعْدَ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَّا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي سَبْعٍ يَبْقِينَ أَوْ خَمْسٍ يَبْقِينَ أَوْ ثَلَاثٍ أَوْ آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ» وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ كَصَلَاتِهِ فِي سَائِرِ السَّنَةِ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرَ اجْتَهَدَ

Translation

✧ I am not seeking it after something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except in the last ten, for I heard him say: "Seek it in the seven remaining, or the five remaining, or the three, or the last night." Abu Bakrah used to pray during the twenty of Ramadan as he prayed during the rest of the year, but when the last ten entered, he exerted himself.
