أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُيَيْنَةُ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ مَا أَنَا بِمُلْتَمِسُهَا إِلَّا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ بَعْدَ شَيْءٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «الْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي تِسْعٍ أَوْ سَبْعٍ يَبْقِينَ» وَذَكَرَ أَيْضًا الْخَمْسَ قَالَ أَوْ ثَلَاثٍ أَوْ آخِرِ لَيْلَةٍ

Translation

✧ Abu Bakrah said: “I will not seek it except in the last ten, after something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I heard him say: ‘Seek it in the last ten, in the ninth or seventh that remain.’ He also mentioned the fifth. He said: ‘Or the third, or the last night.’”
