✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ conquered Makkah, the first house he entered was the house of Umm Hani'. He called for water and drank. Umm Hani' was on his right, so he passed his leftover to Umm Hani', and Umm Hani' drank it. Then she said, "O Messenger of God, by God, I have done a deed, and by God, I do not know whether I did right or not. I drank the leftover of the Messenger of God ﷺ." He said, "Is it a make-up from Ramadan or a voluntary fast?" I said, "O Messenger of God, rather it is voluntary." The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "The one who fasts voluntarily has the choice: if he wishes, he may fast, and if he wishes, he may break his fast." Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This hadith is mudtarib (disordered), and the first one is similar. As for the hadith of Urwah, Zumayl is not well-known. As for the hadith of al-Zuhri that Ja'far b. Burqan and Sufyan b. Husayn attributed with a chain, they are not strong in al-Zuhri specifically. Malik, Ubayd Allah b. Umar, and Sufyan b. Uyaynah contradicted them, and these are more reliable and better memorizers than Sufyan b. Husayn and Ja'far b. Burqan. As for the hadith of Umm Hani', there is disagreement over Simak b. Harb in it, and Simak b. Harb is not one to be relied upon when he alone narrates a hadith, because he used to accept talqin (prompting). As for the hadith of Ja'dah, he did not hear it from Umm Hani'. He mentioned it from Abu Salih, from Umm Hani'. This Abu Salih's name is Badhan, and it is said Madham, and he is weak in hadith. He is a mawla of Umm Hani', and he is the one from whom al-Kalbi narrates. Ibn Uyaynah said, from Muhammad b. Qays, from Habib b. Abi Thabit, who said: We used to call Abu Salih Duruzan, which in Persian means a liar. However, Yahya b. Sa'id did not abandon him, and he narrated from Isma'il b. Abi Khalid from him. It is also narrated that he said during his illness, "Everything I narrated to you is false." Abu Salih, the father of Suhayl b. Abi Salih, his name is Dhakwan, and he is trustworthy and reliable. As for the hadith of Yahya b. Ayyub that we mentioned, he is not one to be relied upon, and he has more than one rejected hadith.
