أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
أَنَّهُ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يَوْمًا يَصُومُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَصُومَهُ فَلْيَصُمْهُ وَمَنْ كَرِهَهُ فَلْيَدَعْهُ»

✧ It was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the day of Ashura, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It was a day on which the people of the pre-Islamic era used to fast, so whoever of you wishes to fast it, let him fast it, and whoever dislikes it, let him leave it."
