أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ الضَّمْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

قَدِمِتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَلَا تَنْتَظِرُ الْغَدَاءَ يَا أَبَا أُمَيَّةَ؟» قُلْتُ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ قَالَ «تَعَالَ أُخْبِرْكَ عَنِ الْمُسَافِرِ إِنَّ اللهَ وَضَعَ عَنْهُ» يَعْنِي الصِّيَامَ وَنِصْفَ الصَّلَاةِ

✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “Will you not wait for lunch, O Abu Umayyah?” I said, “I am fasting.” He said, “Come, I will tell you about the traveler: Allah has lifted from him”—meaning the fasting—“and half of the prayer.”
