أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حِبَّانُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَرْطَاةَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْهِلَالَ فَصُومُوا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ أَتِمُّوا شَعْبَانَ ثَلَاثِينَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَرَوُا الْهِلَالَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ صُومُوا رَمَضَانَ ثَلَاثِينَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَرَوُا الْهِلَالَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "When you sight the crescent, fast; and when you sight it, break the fast. If it is obscured from you, then complete thirty—complete Sha'ban as thirty—unless you sight the crescent before that. Then fast Ramadan as thirty unless you sight the crescent before that."
