أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُهَلَّبُ وأَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنِ الْمُهَلَّبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ صُمْتُ رَمَضَانَ وَلَا قُمْتُهُ كُلَّهُ» فَلَا أَدْرِي كِرَهَ التَّزْكِيَةَ أَوْ قَالَ لَا بُدَّ مِنْ غَفْلَةٍ وَرَقْدَةٍ اللَّفْظُ لِعُبَيْدِ اللهِ

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ, he said: “None of you should say, ‘I fasted Ramadan’ or ‘I stood (in prayer) all of it.’” I do not know whether he disliked self-praise or he said: “There must be some heedlessness or sleep.” The wording is that of Ubayd Allah.
