✧ The Importance of Zakat al-Fitr

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عِيَاضَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

لَمْ نُخْرِجْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ «إِلَّا صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ زَبِيبٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ دَقِيقٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ أَقِطٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ سُلْتٍ» ثُمَّ شَكَّ سُفْيَانُ فَقَالَ دَقِيقٍ أَوْ سُلْتٍ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ لَا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا قَالَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ دَقِيقًا غَيْرَ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ

Translation

✧ We did not give during the era of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except one ṣāʿ of dates, or one ṣāʿ of barley, or one ṣāʿ of raisins, or one ṣāʿ of flour, or one ṣāʿ of aqiṭ, or one ṣāʿ of sult. Then Sufyān hesitated and said: Flour or sult. Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: I do not know anyone who said "flour" in this hadith other than Ibn ʿUyaynah.
