أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِيَاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَمَعَهُ ابْنٌ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَتُحِبُّهُ؟ فَقَالَ أَحَبَّكَ اللهُ كَمَا أُحِبُّهُ فَمَاتَ فَفَقَدَهُ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا تُوُفِّيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ «مَا يَسُرُّكَ أَنْ لَا تَأْتِيَ بَابًا مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَّا وَجَدْتَهُ عِنْدَهَا يَسْعَى يَفْتَحُ لَكَ؟» قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبُو إِيَاسٍ اسْمُهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ with a son of his. He said, "Do you love him?" He said, "May Allah love you as I love him." Then he died, and he missed him, so he asked about him. They said, "He has passed away, O Messenger of Allah." He said, "Would it not please you that you will not come to any gate of the gates of Paradise except that you will find him there, hastening to open it for you?" Abu Abd al-Rahman said to us: Abu Iyas's name is Mu'awiyah b. Qurrah.
