أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ قَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ وَحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا أَتَى نَعْيُ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَجَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَوَاحَةَ جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْحُزْنُ وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ مِنْ صِيرِ الْبَابِ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ نِسَاءَ جَعْفَرٍ يَبْكِينَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «انْطَلِقْ فَانْهَهُنَّ» فَانْطَلَقَ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُنَّ فَأَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَنْتَهِينَ قَالَ «فَانْطَلِقْ فَانْهَهُنَّ» فَانْطَلَقَ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُنَّ فَأَبَيْنَ أَنْ يَنْتَهِينَ فَقَالَ «انْطَلِقْ فَاحْثُ فِي أَفْوَاهِهِنَّ التُّرَابَ» قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ أَرْغَمَ اللهُ أَنْفَ الْأَبْعَدِ أَمَا وَاللهِ مَا تَرَكْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَمَا أَنْتَ بِفَاعِلٍ

✧ When the news of the death of Zayd b. Harithah, Ja'far b. Abi Talib, and Abdullah b. Rawahah came, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down, and grief was recognized on his face, while I was looking from a crack in the door. A man came to him and said: "The women of Ja'far are weeping." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Go and forbid them." He went, then came back to him and said: "I forbade them, but they refused to stop." He said: "Go and forbid them." He went, then came back to him and said: "I forbade them, but they refused to stop." He said: "Go and throw dust in their mouths." Aishah said: "I said: May Allah rub the nose of the remote one in dust! By Allah, you have not left the Messenger of Allah ﷺ alone, and you are not going to do it."
