✧ The sun eclipsed on the day Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ﷺ, died. The people said, 'The sun eclipsed only because of the death of Ibrahim.' The Prophet ﷺ stood and prayed six rak'ahs with four prostrations. He said the takbir, then recited and lengthened the recitation. Then he bowed for about as long as he had stood. Then he raised his head and recited less than the first recitation. Then he bowed for about as long as he had stood. Then he raised his head and recited less than the second recitation. Then he bowed for about as long as he had stood. Then he raised his head and went down into prostration and prostrated twice. Then he stood and bowed three rak'ahs before prostrating, in which no rak'ah was except that the one before it was longer than the one after it, except that his bowing was about the length of his standing. Then he moved backward in his prayer, and the rows moved backward with him. Then he moved forward and stood in his place, and the rows moved forward. He completed the prayer when the sun had already risen. Then he said, 'O people, the sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah ﷻ, and they do not eclipse for the death of any human. So when you see any of that, pray until it clears. Indeed, there is nothing that you are promised except that I have seen it in this prayer of mine. The Fire was brought, and that was when you saw me move backward for fear that some of its heat would strike me, until I said, "O Lord, and I am among them?" And I saw in it the owner of the crook dragging his intestines in the Fire. He used to steal from the pilgrims with his crook; if he was noticed, he said, "It only got caught on my crook," and if no one noticed, he went off with it. And I saw in it the woman of the cat who tied it up and neither fed it nor let it eat from the vermin of the earth until it died of hunger. And Paradise was brought, and that was when you saw me move forward until I stood in my place. I extended my hand, wanting to take some of its fruit so that you might look at it. Then it occurred to me not to do so.'
