✧ Umar b. al-Khattab found a suit of fine brocade being sold in the market. He took it and brought it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, buy this and adorn yourself with it for the Eid and for delegations.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'This is only the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter.' Umar waited as long as Allah willed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him a robe of silk brocade. He came with it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said "This is only the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter," then you sent me this?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Sell it and meet your need with it.' The wording is that of Sulayman.
