أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ فَرَأَى حُلَّةَ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ تُبَاعُ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اشْتَرِهَا فَالْبَسْهَا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ وَحِينَ يَقْدَمُ عَلَيْكَ الْوَفْدُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ» قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِثَلَاثِ حُلَلٍ مِنْهَا فَكَسَا عُمَرَ مِنْهَا حُلَّةً وَكَسَا عَلِيًّا حُلَّةً وَكَسَا أُسَامَةَ حُلَّةً فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ ثُمَّ بَعَثْتَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ قَالَ «بِعْهَا فَاقْضِ بِهَا حَاجَتَكَ أَوْ شَقِّقْهَا خُمُرًا بَيْنَ نِسَائِكَ»

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab went out and saw a suit of fine brocade being sold in the market. He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, buy it and wear it on Friday and when delegations come to you.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this.' He said: 'Then three suits of it were brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gave Umar one suit, Ali one suit, and Usamah one suit. Umar came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you said what you said about it, then you sent it to me.' He said: 'Sell it and fulfill your need with it, or cut it into veils for your women.'
