أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَعْوَرُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ مُؤَذِّنَ الْعُرْيَانِ فِي مَسْجِدِ بَنِي هِلَالٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ أَبِي الْمُثَنَّى مُؤَذِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْجَامِعِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا كَانَ الْأَذَانُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّتَيْنِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَالْإِقَامَةُ مَرَّةً غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ «قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ» فَكُنَّا إِذَا سَمِعْنَا الْإِقَامَةَ تَوَضَّأْنَا ثُمَّ خَرَجْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ لَا أَحْفَظُ عَنْهُ غَيْرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ وَحْدَهُ

✧ "I heard Abu Ja'far, the mu'adhdhin of al-'Uryan in the mosque of Banu Hilal, narrating from Muslim Abu al-Muthanna, the mu'adhdhin of the Jami' mosque, from Ibn 'Umar that he said: 'The adhan at the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was two (phrases) two (phrases), and the iqamah was one (phrase), except that he would say, "Prayer is about to begin, prayer is about to begin." When we heard the iqamah, we would perform wudu' and then go out to prayer.'" Shu'bah said: "I do not remember from him any hadith except this one."
