أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ قَالَ
أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ شَبَبَةٌ مُتَقَارِبُونَ فَأَقَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ عِشْرِينَ لَيْلَةً قَالَ وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَحِيمًا رَفِيقًا فَظَنَّ أَنْ قَدِ اشْتَقْنَا إِلَى أَهْلِنَا وَسَأَلْنَا عَمَّنْ تَرَكْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِنَا فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ فَقَالَ «ارْجِعُوا إِلَى أَهْلِيكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا عِنْدَهُمْ وَعَلِّمُوهُمْ وَمُرُوهُمْ إِذَا حَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَلْيُؤَذِّنْ لَكُمْ أَحَدُكُمْ وَلْيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَكْبَرُكُمْ»

✧ We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while we were young men of similar ages, and we stayed with him for twenty nights. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was merciful and gentle, and he thought that we had missed our families, and he asked us about whom we had left of our families, so we told him. He said, "Return to your families and stay with them, teach them, and command them: when the prayer time comes, let one of you call the adhan for you, and let the eldest of you lead you in prayer."
