أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْقِبْطِيَّةِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
كُنَّا إِذَا صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قُلْنَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَشَارَ مِسْعَرٌ بِيَدِهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ فَقَالَ «مَا بَالُ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ يُومِئُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ كَأَنَّهَا أَذْنَابُ الْخَيْلِ الشُّمْسِ أَمَا يَكْفِي أَحَدُهُمْ أَنْ يَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ ثُمَّ يُسَلِّمَ عَلَى أَخِيهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَشِمَالِهِ»

✧ When we prayed behind the Prophet ﷺ, we said, “Peace be upon you, peace be upon you” – and Mis'ar gestured with his hand to his right and left. So he said: “What is the matter with these people who gesture with their hands as if they were the tails of restless horses? Is it not enough for one of you to place his hand on his thigh and then greet his brother on his right and his left?”
