عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ كَتَبَ إِلَى يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ «§إِيَّاكَ أَنْ تُدْرِكَكَ الصَّرْعَةُ عِنْدَ الْغَرَّةِ فَلَا

تُقَالُ لَكَ الْعَثْرَةُ وَلَا تُمَكَّنَ مِنَ الرَّجْعَةِ وَلَا يَحْمَدُكَ مَنْ خَلَّفْتَ بِمَا تَرَكْتَ وَلَا يَعْذُرُكَ مَنْ تُقْدِمَ عَلَيْهِ بِمَا اشْتَغَلْتَ بِهِ وَالسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ»

✧ “The slip will be forgiven you, but you will not be enabled to return; the one you left behind will not praise you for what you left, and the one you go to will not excuse you for what you were preoccupied with. Peace be upon you.”
