✧ Jesus ﷺ said: “Yes, it is you.” So the likeness of Jesus ﷺ was cast upon him, then Jesus was raised through an opening in the roof of the house to heaven. The pursuers came from the Jews, seized the young man because of the resemblance, killed him, then crucified him. They then split into three factions. One faction said: “God was among us as long as He willed, then He ascended to heaven.” These are the Jacobites. Another faction said: “The son of God was among us as long as God willed, then God raised him to Himself.” These are the Nestorians. Another group said: “The servant of God and His Messenger was among us as long as God willed, then He raised him up.” These are the Muslims. The two disbelieving factions joined forces against the Muslim faction and killed them. Islam remained obscured until God sent Muhammad ﷺ, and God revealed: “So a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved” [61:14], meaning the faction that disbelieved in the time of Jesus ﷺ and the faction that believed in the time of Jesus. “So We supported those who believed against their enemy” [61:14] by making Muhammad ﷺ manifest their religion over the religion of the disbelievers. “So they became dominant” [61:14].
