أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ مُهَلْهِلٍ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
«لَعَنَ اللهُ الْوَاشِمَاتِ وَالْمَوْشُومَاتِ وَالْمُتَنَمِّصَاتِ وَالْمُتَفَلِّجَاتِ لِلْحُسْنِ الْمُغَيِّرَاتِ خَلْقَ اللهِ» فَبَلَغَتِ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ يَعْقُوبَ فَأَتَتْهُ فَقَالَتْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ لَعَنْتَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ؟ قَالَ «أَلَا أَلْعَنُ مَنْ لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ» قَالَتْ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ مَا بَيْنَ لَوْحَيِ الْمُصْحَفِ فَمَا وَجَدْتُهُ؟ قَالَ لَئِنْ كُنْتِ قَرَأْتِيهِ لَقَدْ وَجَدْتِيهِ أَمَا وَجَدْتِ {وَمَا آتَاكُمُ الرَّسُولُ فَخُذُوهُ وَمَا نَهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا} [الحشر 7]؟ قَالَتْ بَلَى وَإِنِّي أَظُنُّ أَهْلَكَ يَفْعَلُونَ بَعْضَ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «ادْخُلِي فَانْظُرِي» فَدَخَلَتْ ثُمَّ خَرَجَتْ قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ شَيْئًا قَالَ «لَوْ فَعَلَتْهُ لَمْ تُجَامِعْنَا»

✧ “May God curse the women who tattoo and those who are tattooed, those who pluck facial hair, and those who file their teeth for beauty, altering the creation of God.” This reached a woman of Banū Asad called Umm Yaʿqūb. She came to him and said, “It has reached me that you cursed such-and-such?” He said, “Shall I not curse those whom the Messenger of God ﷺ cursed, and it is in the Book of God?” She said, “I have read what is between the two covers of the muṣḥaf and did not find it.” He said, “If you read it, you would have found it. Did you not find {And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, abstain from it} [al-Ḥashr 7]?” She said, “Yes, but I suspect your family does some of that.” He said, “Enter and look.” She entered, then came out and said, “I did not see anything.” He said, “If she had done it, she would not have been intimate with us.”
