Sūrat al-Ḥashr

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَرَّقَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَقَطَعَ وَهِيَ الْبُوَيْرَةُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {مَا قَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ لِينَةٍ أَوْ تَرَكْتُمُوهَا قَائِمَةً عَلَى أُصُولِهَا فَبِإِذْنِ اللهِ وَلِيُخْزِيَ الْفَاسِقِينَ} [الحشر 5]

✧ that the Messenger of God ﷺ burned the palm trees of Banū al-Naḍīr and cut them down—that is, al-Buwayrah—so God, Blessed and Exalted, sent down: {Whatever you have cut down of a palm tree or left standing on its roots, it is by God’s permission, and so that He may disgrace the wicked} [al-Ḥashr 5].
