أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ وَاللَّيْثُ عَنْ أَبِي قَبِيلٍ عَنْ شُفَيٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ
خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَذَا كِتَابٌ كَتَبَهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ فِيهِ تَسْمِيَةُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَتَسْمِيَةُ آبَائِهِمْ ثُمَّ أُجْمِلَ عَلَى آخِرِهِمْ فَلَا يُزَادُ فِيهِمْ وَلَا يُنْقَصُ وَهَذَا كِتَابٌ كَتَبَهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ فِيهِ تَسْمِيَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَتَسْمِيَةُ آبَائِهِمْ ثُمَّ أُجْمِلَ عَلَى آخِرِهِمْ فَلَا يُزَادُ فِيهِمْ وَلَا يُنْقَصُ» قَالُوا فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ إِنَّ عَامِلَ الْجَنَّةِ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِعَمَلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنْ عَمِلَ أَيَّ عَمَلٍ وَإِنَّ عَامِلَ النَّارِ يُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِعَمَلِ النَّارِ وَإِنَّ عَمِلَ أَيَّ عَمَلٍ فَرَغَ اللهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ قَالَ {فَرِيقٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَفَرِيقٌ فِي السَّعِيرِ} [الشورى 7]

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said: “This is a book which the Lord of the Worlds wrote, containing the names of the people of Paradise and the names of their fathers. Then they were summarized at their end, so none will be added to them or subtracted from them. And this is a book which the Lord of the Worlds wrote, containing the names of the people of the Fire and the names of their fathers. Then they were summarized at their end, so none will be added to them or subtracted from them.” They said: “Then what is the point of deeds, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “The one who does the deeds of Paradise will have his deeds sealed with the deeds of Paradise, even if he did any other deed. And the one who does the deeds of the Fire will have his deeds sealed with the deeds of the Fire, even if he did any other deed. Allah has finished with His creation.” He said: “{A party in Paradise and a party in the Blaze} [al-Shura 7].”
