أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ اجْتَمَعَ ثَقَفِيَّانِ وَقُرَشِيٌّ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَتَرَى اللهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا نَقُولُ؟ قَالَ

بَعْضُهُمْ إِذَا أَخْفَيْنَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ وَإِذَا جَهَرْنَا عَلِمَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَنْ يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ} [فصلت 22] وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ مَنْصُورٍ

✧ Some of them, when we concealed it, did not know; but when we spoke openly, he knew. So Allah revealed: {And you were not hiding yourselves lest your hearing, your sight, or your skins testify against you.} [Fuṣṣilat: 22]. The wording is that of Ibn Manṣūr.
