أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَرَبِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ احْتَجَّ آدَمُ وَمُوسَى فَقَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْتَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ اللهُ بِيَدِهِ وَنَفَخَ فِيكَ مِنْ رُوحِهِ أَغْوَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَخْرَجْتَهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ فَقَالَ آدَمُ وَأَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللهُ بِكَلَامِهِ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ عَمِلْتُهُ كَتَبَهُ اللهُ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَخْلُقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ؟ قَالَ «فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى»

Translation

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ: “Adam and Moses argued. Moses said, ‘O Adam, you are the one whom Allah created with His own hand and breathed into you from His spirit, yet you misled the people and drove them out of Paradise.’ Adam said, ‘And you are Moses, whom Allah chose with His speech. Do you blame me for a deed that Allah decreed for me before He created the heavens and the earth?’” He said, “So Adam got the better of Moses.”
