أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ أَخْبَرَنَا حِبَّانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ مُسْلِمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ شَيْبَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ {وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَى جُيُوبِهِنَّ} [النور 31] قَالَتْ أَخَذْنَ النِّسَاءُ أُزُرَهُنَّ فَشَقَقْنَهَا مِنْ نَحْوِ الْحَوَاشِي فَاخْتَمَرْنَ بِهَا

✧ When this verse was revealed: “And let them draw their veils over their bosoms” [al-Nūr 31], she said: The women took their waist-wrappers and tore them from the edges, and veiled themselves with them.
