✧ The Prophet ﷺ recited the saying of Allah, exalted is He, regarding Ibrāhīm: {My Lord, they have led astray many among the people} [Ibrāhīm: 36], the verse, and the saying of ʿĪsā: {If You punish them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, indeed You are the Mighty, the Wise} [al-Māʾidah: 118]. Then he raised his hands and said: ‘O Allah, my ummah, my ummah,’ and he wept ﷺ. So Allah said: ‘O Jibrīl, go to Muḥammad—and your Lord is most knowing—and ask him what makes him weep.’ Jibrīl came to him and asked him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told him what he had said, and He is most knowing. Then Allah said: ‘O Jibrīl, go to Muḥammad and say to him: We will please you in your ummah and will not grieve you.’”
