أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَوْهَبٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْيُسْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ وَزَوْجُهَا قَدْ بَعَثَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي بَعْثٍ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ بِعْنِي بِدِرْهَمٍ تَمْرًا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا وَأَعْجَبَتْنِي إِنَّ فِي الْبَيْتِ تَمْرًا أَطْيَبُ مِنْ هَذَا فَانْطَلَقَ بِهَا فَغَمَزَهَا وَقَبَّلَهَا فَفَزِعَ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَلَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلَكْتُ قَالَ مَا شَأْنُكَ؟ فَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرَهُ وَقَالَ لَهُ هَلْ لِي مِنْ تَوْبَةٍ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ تُبْ وَلَا تَعُدْ وَلَا تُخْبِرَنَّ أَحَدًا ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ حَتَّى أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَصَّ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «خَلَّفْتَ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ غَازِيًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ بِهَذَا؟» وَظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ وَأَنَّ اللهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ لِي أَبَدًا وَأَطْرَقَ عَنِّي نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِ {وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ طَرَفَيِ النَّهَارِ وَزُلَفًا مِنَ اللَّيْلِ إِنَّ الْحَسَنَاتِ يُذْهِبْنَ السَّيِّئَاتِ ذَلِكَ ذِكْرَى لِلذَّاكِرِينَ} [هود 114] فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَرَأَهُنَّ عَلَيَّ

✧ A woman came to him, and her husband had been sent by the Prophet ﷺ on an expedition. She said to him: Sell me a dirham's worth of dates. He said: I said to her—and she pleased me—"There are dates in the house better than this." So he went with her, and he squeezed her and kissed her. He became terrified, then he went out and met Abu Bakr. He said to him: I am ruined. Abu Bakr said: What is your matter? He told him his story and said: Is there any repentance for me? He said: Yes, repent and do not repeat it, and do not tell anyone. Then he went until he came to the Prophet ﷺ and told him his story. He said: "Did you leave a man of the Muslims fighting in the path of God for this?" And I thought that I was of the people of the Fire and that God would never forgive me. The Prophet of God ﷺ bowed his head away from me until it was revealed to him: {And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in the early hours of the night. Indeed, good deeds remove evil deeds. That is a reminder for those who remember} [Hud 114]. Then the Prophet of God ﷺ sent for me and recited them to me.
