أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَمْ تَحِلَّ الْغَنَائِمُ لِقَوْمٍ سُودِ الرُّءُوسِ قَبْلَكُمْ كَانَتْ تَنْزِلُ نَارٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَتَأْكُلُهَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ أَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي الْغَنَائِمِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللهِ سَبَقَ} [الأنفال 68] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ {فَكُلُوا مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا} [الأنفال 69]

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "Booty was not lawful for any people with black heads before you. Fire used to descend from the sky and consume it. When the Day of Badr came, the people hastened to the booty, so God, exalted is He, sent down: {Were it not for a prior decree from God} [Al-Anfal: 68] to the end of the verse, {So eat of what you have taken as booty, lawful and good} [Al-Anfal: 69]."
