أَخْبَرَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا قُدَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ حَدَّثَتْنِي جَسْرَةُ بِنْتُ دَجَاجَةَ قَالَتْ

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ يَقُولُ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ بِآيَةٍ وَالْآيَةُ {إِنْ تُعَذِّبْهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ عِبَادُكَ وَإِنْ تَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَإِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ} [المائدة 118]

✧ I heard Abu Dharr say: The Prophet ﷺ stood all night with a verse—the verse: {If You punish them, indeed they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, indeed You are the Mighty, the Wise} [al-Ma'idah: 118].
