أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

كَسَرَتِ الرُّبَيِّعُ ثَنِيَّةَ جَارِيَةٍ فَطَلَبُوا إِلَيْهِمُ الْعَفْوَ فَأَبَوْا فَعَرَضُوا عَلَيْهِمُ الْأَرْشَ فَأَبَوْا وَأَتَوَا النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ بِالْقِصَاصِ فَقَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ تُكْسَرُ ثَنِيَّةُ الرُّبَيِّعِ؟ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَا تُكْسَرُ قَالَ «يَا أَنَسُ كِتَابُ اللهِ الْقِصَاصُ» فَرَضِيَ الْقَوْمُ وَعَفَوْا فَقَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ»

✧ Al-Rubayyi' broke the front tooth of a girl. They asked for pardon but they refused. They offered compensation but they refused. They came to the Prophet ﷺ and he ordered retaliation. Anas b. al-Nadr said, 'O Messenger of Allah, will the front tooth of al-Rubayyi' be broken? By the One who sent you with truth, it will not be broken.' He said, 'O Anas, the Book of Allah decrees retaliation.' The people were satisfied and pardoned. He said, 'Among the servants of Allah are those who, if they swore by Allah, He would fulfill it.'
