أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِقْسَمًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ {§لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ} [النساء 95] عَنْ بَدْرٍ وَالْخَارِجُونَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ قَالَ
عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَحْشٍ الْأَسَدِيُّ وَعَبْدُ اللهِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ إِنَّا أَعْمَيَانِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَهَلْ لَنَا رُخْصَةٌ؟ فَنَزَلَتْ {لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرِ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ} [النساء 95] {فَضَّلَ اللهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً} فَهَؤُلَاءِ الْقَاعِدُونَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ {وَفَضَّلَ اللهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا دَرَجَاتٍ مِنْهُ} [النساء 96] عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرِ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ

✧ ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Jaḥsh al-Asadī and ʿAbd Allāh, who is Ibn Umm Maktūm, said: We are blind, O Messenger of Allah, so do we have a concession? Then was revealed: {Not equal are those who sit among the believers, other than those with disabilities} [al-Nisāʾ 95] {Allah has preferred the strivers over those who sit by a degree.} These are the ones who sit, other than those with disabilities. {And Allah has preferred the strivers over those who sit with a great reward, degrees from Him} [al-Nisāʾ 96]—over those who sit among the believers, other than those with disabilities.
