أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو سَمِعَ عَطَاءً عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ §لَحِقَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ رَجُلًا فِي غُنَيْمَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَقَتَلُوهُ وَأَخَذُوا غُنَيْمَتَهُ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا} [النساء 94] تِلْكَ الْغُنَيْمَةُ
Translation

✧ He said, 'Peace be upon you,' but they killed him and took his spoils. So Allah ﷻ sent down: {And do not say to one who offers you peace, 'You are not a believer,' seeking the goods of worldly life} [al-Nisāʾ 94]—that is, the spoils.
