أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ أَخْبَرَنَا حَبَّانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ عَنْ شَرِيكٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ

فِي قَوْلِهِ {§وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا} [البقرة 189] قَالَ كَانَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ إِذَا أَحْرَمُوا لَمْ يَدْخُلُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا وَدَخَلُوهَا مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا مِنَ الْحِيطَانِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ {وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا وَلَكِنَّ الْبِرَّ مِنَ اتَّقَى وَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ أَبْوَابِهَا} [البقرة 189]

✧ Concerning His saying {It is not righteousness that you enter houses from their backs} [al-Baqarah: 189], he said: Some people from the people of the pre-Islamic era, when they entered ihram, would not enter houses from their doors but would enter them from their backs, over the walls; so God, majestic is His praise, revealed {It is not righteousness that you enter houses from their backs, but righteousness is [in] one who fears [God]; and enter houses from their doors} [al-Baqarah: 189].
