✧ Wiping on the Turban with the Naqib

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَحُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

تَخَلَّفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَخَلَّفْتُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ قَالَ «أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟» فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِمِطْهَرَةٍ فَغَسَلَ يَدَهُ وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ يَحْسِرُ عَنْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ فَضَاقَ كُمُّ جُبَّتِهِ وَأَلْقَى الْجُبَّةَ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ فَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ وَعَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ وَعَلَى خُفَّيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْعِمَامَةَ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell behind, so I fell behind with him. When he had relieved himself, he said: "Do you have water with you?" I brought him a water container. He washed his hands and face. Then he went to roll up his sleeves, but the sleeve of his jubbah was tight, so he threw the jubbah over his shoulders and washed his forearms. He wiped his forelock, over the turban, and over his leather socks. Abu Abd al-Rahman said: "Ismail b. Muhammad b. Sa'd narrated this hadith from Hamzah b. al-Mughirah, and he did not mention the turban."
