أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمُقْرِئُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ فِي النَّوْمِ
كَأَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْيَهُودِ يَقُولُ تَزْعُمُونَ أَنَّا نُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ وَأَنْتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ وَشَاءَ مُحَمَّدٌ؟ فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ أَمَا إِنِّي كُنْتُ أَكْرَهُهَا لَكُمْ قُولُوا مَا شَاءَ اللهُ ثُمَّ شِئْتَ

✧ It was as if a man from the Jews was saying: 'You claim that we associate partners with Allah, yet you yourselves associate partners by saying: Whatever Allah wills and Muhammad wills?' So I came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him, and he said: 'Indeed, I disliked it for you. Say: Whatever Allah wills, then you wish.'
