أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عُتَيِّ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ قَالَ شَهِدْتُهُ يَوْمًا يَعْنِي أُبَيَّ بْنَ كَعْبٍ وَإِذَا رَجُلٌ يَتَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَعَضَّهُ بَأَيْرِ أَبِيهِ وَلَمْ يُكَنَّهْ فَكَأَنَّ الْقَوْمَ اسْتَنْكَرُوا ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ فَقَالَ
لَا تَلُومُونِي فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَنَا «مَنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ يتَعَزَّى بِعَزَاءِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَعِضُّوهُ وَلَا تُكَنُّوا»

✧ Do not blame me, for the Prophet of God ﷺ said to us: “Whomever you see boasting with the boasting of the pre-Islamic era, tell him to bite it, and do not use a euphemism.”
