✧ What to Say When Getting up from Bed and Then Returning to It for a Rest

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَنْ فِرَاشِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فَلْيَنْفُضْهُ بِصَنِفَةِ ثَوْبِهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي مَا خَلَفَهُ فِيهِ بَعْدَهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا اضْطَجَعَ فَلْيَقُلْ بِاسْمِكَ وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ اللهُمَّ إِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ الصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: When one of you gets up from his bed and then returns to it, let him dust it with the edge of his garment, for he does not know what has come upon it after him. Then when he lies down, let him say: "In Your name I lay down my side, and by You I raise it. O Allah, if You take my soul, forgive it, and if You send it back, protect it with what You protect Your righteous servants."
