أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَصْبَغُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ الْجُرَشِيُّ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ قُلْتُ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ ﷺ يَقْرَأُ إِذَا قَامَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَبِمَ كَانَ يَسْتَفْتِحُ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ عَشْرًا وَيَحْمَدُ عَشْرًا وَيُسَبِّحُ عَشْرًا وَيُهَلِّلُ عَشْرًا وَيَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ عَشْرًا وَيَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَاهْدِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي» عَشْرًا وَيَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الضِّيقِ يَوْمَ الْحِسَابِ» عَشْرًا

✧ I asked Aisha, “What did the Messenger ﷺ recite when he stood to pray at night, and with what did he begin?” She said, “He would say allahu akbar ten times, praise Allah ten times, glorify Allah ten times, proclaim His oneness ten times, seek Allah’s forgiveness ten times, and say: ‘O Allah, forgive me, guide me, and provide for me’ ten times, and say: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge with You from distress on the Day of Reckoning’ ten times.”
