أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ الصَّوَّافِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا أَوَى الرَّجُلُ إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ ابْتَدَرَهُ مَلَكٌ وَشَيْطَانٌ فَيَقُولُ الْمَلَكُ اخْتِمْ بِخَيْرٍ وَيَقُولُ الشَّيْطَانُ اخْتِمْ بِشَرٍّ فَإِنْ ذَكَرَ اللهَ ثُمَّ نَامَ بَاتَ الْمَلَكُ يَكْلَؤُهُ فَإِذَا اسْتَيْقَظَ قَالَ الْمَلَكُ افْتَحْ بِخَيْرٍ وَقَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ افْتَحْ بِشَرٍّ فَإِنْ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي وَلَمْ يُمِتْهَا فِي مَنَامِهَا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي {يُمْسِكُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ أَنْ تَزُولَا} إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي {يُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءَ أَنْ تَقَعَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ} [الحج 65] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ فَإِنْ وَقَعَ مِنْ سَرِيرِهِ فَمَاتَ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ [316] 10625 أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ الصَّوَّافِ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ «إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ وَأَوَى إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ» فَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ مَوْقُوفًا

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When a man retires to his bed, an angel and a devil hasten to him. The angel says, "End with good," and the devil says, "End with evil." If he remembers Allah and then sleeps, the angel spends the night guarding him. When he wakes, the angel says, "Begin with good," and the devil says, "Begin with evil." If he says: "All praise is due to Allah who returned my soul to me and did not cause it to die in its sleep. All praise is due to Allah who holds the heavens and the earth lest they cease to exist" until the end of the verse, "All praise is due to Allah who holds the heaven lest it fall upon the earth except by His permission" [al-Hajj 65] until the end of the verse, then if he falls from his bed and dies, he enters Paradise.' [316] 10625 Muhammad b. Rafi' informed us, he said: Azhar b. al-Qasim narrated to us, then he mentioned a word meaning: Hisham narrated to us from al-Hajjaj al-Sawwaf from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir, who said: 'When a man enters his house and retires to his bed'—and he related the hadith as mawquf.
