أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَنْصُورًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْبَرَاءُ بْنُ عَازِبٍ قَالَ
قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَيْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ فَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَكَ لِلصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ اضْطَجِعْ عَلَى شِقِّكَ الْأَيْمَنِ فَقُلِ اللهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ رَهْبَةً وَرَغْبَةً إِلَيْكَ لَا مَلْجَأَ وَلَا مَنْجَى مِنْكَ إِلَّا إِلَيْكَ آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ فَإِنْ مُتَّ مُتَّ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ وَاجْعَلْهُنَّ آخِرَ مَا تَقُولُ قَالَ الْبَرَاءُ فَقُلْتُ أَسْتَذْكِرُهُنَّ قُلْتُ وَبِرَسُولِكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ قَالَ وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: “When you come to your bed, perform ablution as you do for prayer, then lie on your right side and say: O Allah, I have submitted my face to You, and entrusted my affair to You, out of fear and desire of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed, and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.” If you die, you die upon the natural disposition. Make these the last words you say. Al-Bara' said: I said, "I memorize them," and I said, "and in Your Messenger whom You have sent." He said: "And in Your Prophet whom You have sent."
