أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ وَاسْمُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَمْرِو أَبُو عَمْرٍو عَنْ يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ يَمَامِيٌّ وَكُنْيَتُهُ أَبُو نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ «يَقْرَأُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ وَيُسْمِعُنَا الْآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا وَكَانَ يُطِيلُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الْأُولَى»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite Umm al-Qur'an and two surahs in the first two rak'ahs of Dhuhr prayer and Asr prayer, and he would let us hear a verse sometimes, and he would lengthen the first rak'ah.
