أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو عَنْ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الْمُصَفَّى أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى الْأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ وَنَحْنُ نَسِيرُ فَقَرَأَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ {قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ} [الكافرون 1] قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَّا صَاحِبُكُمْ فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ» فَذَهَبْتُ أَنْظُرُ مَنْ هُوَ فَأُبَشِّرُهُ فَقَرَأَ رَجُلٌ آخَرُ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَمَّا صَاحِبُكُمْ فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ»

✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, traveling, and a man from the group recited {Say: O disbelievers} [al-Kafirun: 1]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'As for your companion, he has been freed from shirk.' I went to see who he was to give him glad tidings, and another man recited {Say: He is Allah, the One} [al-Ikhlas: 1]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'As for your companion, he has been forgiven.'"
