أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ وَالْأَعْمَشِ سَمِعَا ذَرَّ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ
قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَدُنَا يَجِدُ الشَّيْءَ لَأَنْ يَكُونَ حُمَمَةً أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَتَكَلَّمَ بِهِ؟ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَقْدِرْ مِنْكُمْ إِلَّا عَلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ» وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَدَّ أَمْرَهُ إِلَى الْوَسْوَسَةِ»

✧ It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, one of us finds something such that to be a burnt cinder would be dearer to him than to speak of it?" One of them said, "Praise be to Allah who has not given him power over you except through whisperings," and the other said, "Praise be to Allah who has turned his affair back into whisperings."
